South Africa is often termed as the ‘rainbow nation’ because of its cultural diversity and has 11 official languages. English is spoken throughout the country which is actually only the 5th most common home language spoken. South Africa has an immense range of opportunities for travelers. The restless travelling couple Eleni and Christos planned to visit various adventurous South East Africa tourist destinations. They landed in Johannesburg on 22nd of April 2017. After going through passport control, they went to the Hertz office to pick up the rental car. Due to some of the cross-border restrictions, they were informed that they could visit only 3 of the 5 countries, so they chose to visit Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
They started their journey towards Musina. They had to cover a distance of 500 km towards the north. Due to the delay at the Hertz office, they couldn’t avoid driving at night, but they had the chance to enjoy the first glorious African sunset of their journey. Because of some reason they couldn’t pass to Mozambique from Zimbabwe. So they decided to go to Vilankulos. From then on they could continue towards Maputo since it would be easy to take the plane from there and go to Pemba. They had found alternative routes, air tickets to Pemba, at the northern part of Mozambique.
How Eleni and Christos Reached Zimbabwe?
Then the couple Eleni and Christos passed through passport control at the South African side and arrived in Beitbridge at 4:40 in the morning. On the 23rd of April 2017, by 8 o’clock they had managed to finish with all the procedures and finally entered Zimbabwe. They got registered at the camp. They bought a map from the very friendly ladies who were working there and then they started their tour, so as to make the best of their afternoon.
Matobo National Park – A Magic Place!
The weather was very pleasant, and the shady colors were creating magical pictures. Many of the African peoples believe that the Matobo Hills is a magical place. They decided to take the cycle route, so as to see the sightseeing of the Northern Wild Area. They arrived at the White Rhino Cave and left the car and climbed up, all the way to the high plateau. They saw some of the outstanding rock paintings, which have given to the area some of its great fame. Some of them may even date back to 13.000 years, although there are also some that date back to only a few hundred years. They were very excited about their South East Africa travel experience.
